Join Us
We want everyone to get the most out of being a member.
We’re not for profit, and 100% focused on building a community of riders who help each other get more fun and achievement out of cycling.
You can expect to be part of a community that supports and challenges each other, whatever your ability or goal. The only prerequisites are a road bike, safe riding and mutual respect.

The Basics
Here’s what you need to know if you are thinking about joining:
We organise regular rides, normally starting in South London (Clapham, Richmond Park or Crystal Palace).
Rides are organised across different speeds, so you can pick what is right for you.
We have hundreds of routes, ranging from Surrey, Kent and Berkshire loops or return trips to Windsor, through to further afield places like Brighton or the Isle of Wight.
We also host holidays to places like Girona and Mallorca as well as events like time trials throughout the year.
Ride leaders organise our trips in advance and members sign up through an app. We typically ride in groups of 6-8.
Auster kit is optional, but we think it looks great when we are all out and about in it!
New members can take part in one of our regular intro rides, where you can get a sense of your level, and whether Auster is right for you.
Register below and we’ll be in touch to let you know when the next intro ride is happening.
What We Expect From You
We only have a few rules, all common sense, to make sure that our rides are safe, and everyone feels welcome in the club:
Maintain your bike: Your bike should be in a safe and rideable condition, whether you maintain it yourself or take it to a shop. This includes working brakes and gears.
Be safe: You should be able to safely ride your bike within a group. You should also be aware of the Highway Code and related best practices when sharing the road with others.
Bring the essentials: Always bring adequate food and water, plus spare inner tubes, a pump, tools (like tyre levers), a helmet and lights (season dependent).
Learn to fix a puncture: Other members may be able to help with mechanicals, but we expect our members to know the basics (we do run occasional training sessions!).
Be punctual: Turn up at the scheduled start time. If your plans change before the ride, please change your RSVP in the app so someone else can take your place. If you have issues on the way, message the ride leader through our app.
Be respectful: Respect other members and road users. Consider your behaviour when representing the club.
Look out for each other: Communicate with your group, indicate hazards and look out for each other. If there are issues, let your ride leader know.
Select the appropriate group: Our rider ability groups are here. Please be honest with yourself about which is right for you. We love it when we see members improving and getting quicker, but if in doubt, start at a lower paced level and work up to what is right for you. If you select a ride that’s too fast and you are significantly holding the group up, you may be asked by the ride leader to make your own way home,
Fees

There’s an annual fee of £25, payable every April.
We are not for profit, and this is to cover the cost of running the club. It goes towards the cost of our apps, British Cycling membership, kit fees and social events. We give a full rundown of what it’s been spent on each year in our AGM.
We do not ask for you to pay the membership fee until you have completed your intro ride and then elected to continue, so you can make sure that Auster is right for you first.
British Cycling
Our club is registered with British Cycling. This is important for you as it indicates our commitment to running a safe and inclusive club.
