Events
Auster trips and events are a highlight for many of our members, and we’re really proud about how many people come along and make them so special!
Holidays

We plan at least two foreign cycling holidays each year. These are incredibly popular, because they are so fun! These retreats are all about cycling on stunning roads with an awesome group of people, then relaxing with good food and company in the evenings.
In 2024 — our first year as a club! — a large group went to a beautiful villa near Girona, at the base of the iconic Rocacorba climb. A wide range of abilities headed out to the coast and up some of the most famous climbs in the area.
Then in October, a group went to the cycling paradise that is Mallorca for a week’s fun tackling some of the most epic roads, such as Sa Calobra and Cap de Formentor.
Beyond the above, we also often have self-supported mini-trips throughout the year, where the plan is much more flexible and you can join for a duration that suits you. The high-level details of location and dates will be arranged in advance, then members book accommodation and travel directly.
These trips have so far visited the Pyrenees, Nice and Almería, with more planned already.
In 2025, our first trip is to Calpe, to catch some early Spring sunshine in Spain and kick-off the season. Mid-year we have a small group heading into Morzine in the Alps. Later in the year, we return to Mallorca to continue the adventures.
Sportives
We target a few sportives as a club each year too. For the ones out of London, members often organise accommodation or AirBnBs. These are great motivation for hitting our training goals and tremendous fun on the day.
A selection of the sportives we have ridden or are upcoming are below:

Dragon Ride

Fred Whitton Challenge

Hell of the Ashdown

Alpenbrevet

Tour of Flanders

Étape du Tour de France
Socials
As much as we love riding our bikes, we also organise several off-bike socials throughout the year. These are a great opportunity to meet members from groups you don’t usually ride with and may be as simple as a pub or bar night. However, we also have a few big social events in our yearly calendar:

Birthday Party: Since we are such a young club, it’s great to celebrate our yearly milestone each April.
Summer Party: Celebrating the height of summer and the peak riding season.
Christmas Party: We close out the year with a big celebration at our Christmas party in December, where we have been known to hand out prizes to our member-elected winners.
AGM
Once per year — typically in March — we host the Auster Annual General Meeting at a suitable venue. All of our members are invited to join, as this is where we openly discuss the current and future status of the club, including:
A review of the club’s highlights over the previous year. This is a chance to pick out our favourite moments from the year and give shoutouts to our ride leaders and members that have gone above and beyond.
An introduction to the plans for the upcoming year. These could be our club goals, any interesting challenges or the holidays and sportives we have planned.
A rundown of the finances. We show how the club fees have been spent, to ensure you are getting great value out of our club.
An election. If any committee members wish to step down, the AGM is a great opportunity to discuss the requirements of the post and elect new members into these positions.
A discussion. After the overview of the club state, we open the floor to questions.
A celebration. Finally, the AGM is another opportunity to meet the other members of the club (and compare times up Box Hill?).
